Yamaichi Electronics offers a new CompactFlash card reader equipped with a special 'pin protection' system. A special blocking mechanism ensures that only CompactFlash cards can be inserted in the correct orientation into the reader. Other card formats or elements cannot be inserted. In this way, the contacts are protected from vandalism and damage.
The blocking force is more than 40 N, and the system is designed for 10 000 mating cycles. Contact is made with the PCB via straddle-mount contacts. Complete modules, including customised PCBs, can also be implemented.
