Companion chip simplifies integration of common interfaces

A multifunction IC from Toshiba allows engineers to quickly and cost-effectively add a number of common interfaces to multimedia, networking, and other embedded applications. This single IC with PCI, USB, ATA/ATAPI, I²C and UART interfaces, offers designers a simple integrated solution for new designs and provides a low-cost upgrade for existing applications. The TC86C001FG is designed as a companion chip for modern RISC microprocessors that incorporate a PCI interface. Its integrated 3,3 V, 32-bit, 33 MHz PCI interface is fully compliant with revision 2.2. The USB host controller is fully compatible with USB Version 1.1 and offers two USB ports that support device bandwidths of 12 MBps and 1,5 MBps. Support tools to speed development of embedded designs are available.
