40 V boost converter includes a 2 A switch in SMT

Linear Technology's LT1935, is claimed to be the industry's highest power switching regulator in SOT-23 package. The device is a 2 A, 40 V, 1,2 MHz step-up DC/DC converter in a ThinSOT package. Its wide 2,3 V to 16 V input voltage range enables the LT1935 to operate from single cell Li-Ion batteries up to fixed 15 V input rails, delivering outputs up to 38 V. Its constant 12 MHz switching frequency allows designers to keep switching noise out of noise-sensitive circuitry and enables the use of tiny capacitors and inductors.

The combination of the LT1935's high efficiency switch and tiny ThinSOT package provides high current boost capability in a very compact form factor, making it ideal for space-constrained applications.

The LT1935's NPN switch achieves a VCESAT of only 180 mV at 2 A, independent of supply voltage, resulting in high efficiency even at maximum power levels from a 3 V input. The high voltage switch on the LT1935 is rated at 40 V, making it suited for boost converters up to 38 V, as well as for single-ended primary inductance converter (SEPIC) and flyback designs.

The device can generate 5 V at up to 1 A from a 3,3 V supply or 5 V at 550 mA from four alkaline cells in a SEPIC design. The LT1935 incorporates a soft-start function and is pin-to-pin compatible with both the LT1930 and LT1613.
