Free machine vision seminar

National Instruments is inviting interested parties to attend this free seminar. The live demonstrations are designed to help attendees make complicated machine vision issues simple.

Dr James Olive (PhD Materials Science and Engineering, Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN), district sales manager for National Instruments headquarters in Austin, Texas, will be the guest presenter at this seminar. In his five years at NI, he has managed large projects on a global scale. In addition to this, James is responsible for the training of engineers, assistance with research of automation and instrumentation systems, from design through to programming and more. His past achievements and projects include being an integral team member of TEMPUS, in the NASA Micro-activity laboratories 1 & 2 on the Space Shuttle Columbia.

Readers are invited to take this opportunity to learn the fundamentals of image acquisition technologies, including optics, lighting, cameras, hardware and software. Gain tips and proven strategies that can be applied to real machine vision applications, from high-speed packaging inspection to high-precision assembly verification.

This seminar is designed for engineers and scientists involved in test and measurement projects so that they can learn about the latest features in Vision Builder for Automated Inspection.

This seminar demonstrates:

* An interactive, menu-driven environment for developing machine vision applications.

* Automatic LabVIEW code generation.

* Image acquisition capabilities from NI PCI and PXI image acquisition devices and FireWire industrial cameras.

* Measurements in pixels and real-world units.

* Control of digital I/O, PLCs and serial devices.

* Image processing, pattern matching, blob analysis, optical character recognition and spatial calibration.
