Westplex appointed Basler Vision Components reseller

21 April 2004 News Integrated Solutions

Westplex has been appointed as the reseller of Basler Vision Components products in South Africa. Basler's Vision Components Division (Basler-VC) designs and builds advanced vision components for industrial use in the areas of machine vision, medical imaging, motion analysis and scientific imaging. The product line includes colour and monochrome line-scan and area-scan cameras that employ both CCD and CMOS sensors.

The camera range includes:

* Area scan cameras with resolutions from 640 x 480 to 1300 x 1030 pixels, speeds up to 500 frames/s, bit depths of 8 or 10 bits, colour or monochrome, progressive scan.

* Line scan cameras with resolutions of 1024 pixels to 4098 pixels, 20 to 40 MHz clock rates, monochrome or colour and single or tri-linear sensor arrays.

In order to assure maximum image quality, all Basler cameras are equipped with digital computer interfaces. According to the company, digital interfaces eliminate the problems of pixel jitter, line reflections, damping, line loss, bad colour separation, bad colour resolution, restriction to a single image format and the distortions inherent in analog video signals. Digital links also offer remote camera configuration, identification and control functions.

Depending on the camera type, model and required data rate, images may be acquired via either: RS644, camera link, channel link, or IEEE 1394 (Firewire) links.
