ESD-protected 3,3 V transmitters ideal for RS485/RS422 communication to 20 Mbps

Maxim has introduced the MAX3293/MAX3294/MAX3295 low-power, high-speed transmitters.

Their ±15 kV ESD protection makes these devices ideal for RS485/RS422 communication and clock distribution. These devices contain one differential transmitter.

The MAX3295 transmitter operates at data rates up to 20 Mbps, with an output skew of less than 5 ns and driver propagation delay guaranteed below 25 ns. The MAX3293 (250 Kbps) and MAX3294 (2,5 Kbps) are slew-rate limited to minimise EMI and reduce reflections caused by improperly terminated cables. The ±15 V ESD protection eliminates costly external ESD protection devices, while the hot-swap feature allows live insertion without erroneous data transfer.

The devices operate from a 3,3 V single supply and consume less than 5 mA when unloaded. They are available in a 6-pin SOT23 package and are specified for the industrial and automotive temperature ranges.
