BeSecure ready to expand across SA

1 June 2020 News & Events

BeSecure is a company that has taken modern security and communications technologies and turned them into what is best described as care and safety solutions for the South African retirement community. The company quickly expanded its home-grown technology solutions and is now able to offer panic and home care solutions to individuals and villages, as well as to care facilities such as frail care, and seamless access control and visitor management to retirement villages around the country.

The company was started by three partners, Francois Geldenhuys, Andy Minnaar and Barry East, with a focus on retirement villages. However, although it initially developed its technology stack for the retirement market, from the beginning of 2020, BeSecure’s solutions had evolved to allow it to offer its technology to all residential and lifestyle estates as well.

The company is focused on cloud-based solutions for all its solutions. The key is to automate as much of the administration as possible without reducing the security of residents or staff. And while many solutions involve mobile devices, the company incorporates a mix of new and older technologies in its drive to deliver solutions that are as simple to use as possible – to cater for the retirement market.

The cloud component ensures constant monitoring and almost instant notifications of a problem, whether a hardware failure, a visitor request or a panic activation, allowing operators to initiate the appropriate resolution processes from the control room. All systems are also backed by a maintenance plan and SLA (service-level agreement) which includes software updates and hardware upgrades, repairs or replacement.

The data collected can also be sent to the relevant parties to provide an overview of staff performance, the movement of residents in their homes or in care centres, as well as visitors. Not only does this assist in operational efficiency, it also empowers the villages and/or estates to react in an effective manner to dangers such as COVID-19.

Having reached the stage where its solutions have been rolled out to about 30 estates and proved their effectiveness, BeSecure is looking for partners in various regions of South Africa to expand its reach.
