Very high-speed digital subscriber line (VDSL) is considered to be the next step for telecom operators in delivering 'triple-play' service: voice, video, and data. VDSL technology uses high-frequency bands making the existing copper maintenance tools inadequate to properly test the copper plant for VDSL service. The SunSet MTT EX from Sunrise Telecom is said to be the first handheld test set to support the extended frequency range needed for VDSL. It allows service providers to properly manage their network's spectrum to prevent harmful interference. In addition, its TDR (time domain reflectometer) has been optimised for enhanced performance over the short cable distances as used in VDSL.
The SunSet MTT VTU-R Module provides a quick and thorough method for installing VDSL circuits. It not only checks the wiring and verifies service, but also gives vital performance metrics like data rate and noise margin. A one-button automated test improves testing efficiency and increases test reliability.
With 30 different test modules, the SunSet MTT platform gives service installers a broad solution for installing and troubleshooting voice and data access applications. Applications include E1, T1, T3, ISDN, IP, Gigabit Ethernet, ATM, Datacom, HSSI, voice frequency (VF), ADSL, SHDSL, IDSL, SDSL, and ISDN.
