Reporting and analysis software at Computer Faire

June 2003 News Residential Estate (Industry)

Opus Technologies demonstrated its recently unveiled Version 2.2 of its reporting and analysis software in the Microsoft Partner Pavilion at Computer Faire 2003 held on 13-16 of May at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg. Visitors to the Opus stand were given a first hand demonstration of how industry leaders can achieve efficiency and flexibility in their organisations by using Opus technology to enhance their competitive position.

Dave Wibberley, CEO of Opus Technologies, says, "Data does not generally exist in one place, but is found in spreadsheets, in databases, in manufacturing process data and in plant systems, and needs to be made available in realtime." This powerful, flexible and easy-to-use tool enables the creation of reports and makes them available through a single Web portal on an intranet or the Internet.

Realtime adaptive organisations both in South Africa and abroad are using Opus business management technology, to gain competitive advantage through analysing daily operations reports that allow them to detect and respond rapidly to market fluctuations and capitalise on first mover advantage. This tool allows companies to reveal opportunities for strategic operational improvement, providing permanent additions to an organisation's analytic data model without incurring large capital outlays.

The Opus software features an intuitive interface with drag 'n drop functionality and a wide range of tools and palettes. Using Opus allows realtime adaptive companies to accelerate information flow by eliminating intermediaries and providing appropriate visibility to relevant information to all parts of the operation, which is key to monitoring business performance.

Wibberley comments, "visibility must provide the right information to the right person, at the right time and in the right context. Opus employs drawing tools, relational database tables, spreadsheet computation capabilities, and a graphical interface to diagram exactly what is going on in your operations."

Opus 2.2 empowers the user with individual choice and the freedom to create and manage individual sets of reports at all levels of computer expertise and training. Its authors point out that its local development has meant that it is well within the financial range of every business. The picture shows the Opus stand at Computer Faire.
