Wireless access control system

Access & Identity Management Handbook 2018 Access Control & Identity Management

Local access control vendor, Axxess-E, brings a wireless approach to access control, with the company saying customers can save 60% and more on installation and cabling costs. Manufactured in Durban by Optimised Axxess, this ICASA-approved product offers a 3-year warranty.

Axxess Studio software manages alarms, door sensing, movement tracking, real-time event monitoring and diagnostics, multi-site management, customised reporting, T&A reporting, and many more features.

Using the 868 Mhz frequency, Axxess-E includes ambient RF noise monitoring with jamming detection, while intelligent transmission protocol ensures transaction data is never lost. In addition to AES128 encryption, rolling code on the RFID transmitters ensures data integrity.

Axxess-E’s door controllers incorporate battery backup and store the entire 10 000 user database and buffer 100 000 transactions per controller, ensuring the doors will always function, even during a system shutdown.

This smart system incorporates a totally wireless infrastructure with no cabling between the system controller, door controllers and RFID/biometric readers. No TCP/IP cabling and no RS-485 cabling is required.

Axxess-E integrates with the following third-party systems:

• Biometrics – Morpho, Suprema (ViRDI and Hikvision coming soon).

• Wiegand RFID, any third-party device that runs a 26/44 bit Wiegand protocol, including Honeywell, HID, Nedap, CDVI.

Why use a wireless access control system?

• Reduced labour, cabling and installation costs means higher margins for installers.

• Simplified and enhanced versatility in installation.

• Higher returns on the fixed running costs of installation teams. Teams can get more installations completed.

• Retrofit convenience and aesthetically pleasing installations, especially in very old buildings and new high-end properties.

• No complaints from IT managers about bandwidth usage on their networks.

• Wireless technology usage is more prevalent today than ever before and the trend is on the rise with more than 50% of installations predicted to be wireless in the next decade.
