Enhanced surveillance and backwards compatibility

Residential Estate Security Handbook 2016 - Vol 1 Residential Estate (Industry)

Brian Wynberger, national technical manager at Reditron says that the event provided Reditron with the perfect opportunity to present the advantages of various Pelco products for use in the residential estate market.

The company introduced the Pelco Sarix TI series thermal cameras which are ideal for perimeter security. He discussed the various options available to estate managers and explained how to select and deploy the cameras for maximised coverage. Another focal point included the advantages of using thermal cameras with added analytics.

The company seeks to provide estates with an end to end solution, which also includes the Pelco Optera immersive view cameras. Designed with four sensors in each camera, the cameras provide a panoramic view with options of 180, 270 or 360°. Optera optimises the images from each of the four sensors and then seamlessly stitches and blends them at the boundaries to present a natural, continuous panorama. The biggest advantage here is that there are no longer any blind spots.

The company set up a live demonstration of both the Optera and the Sarix TI on its stand to enable end users to see the capabilities and functionality of the two products. Another product that gained much attention was the VideoXpert, a new VMS platform from Pelco, which is geared around extreme backwards compatibility. This means that installations can use old equipment and merely link them on to the VideoXpert platform.

Ideco was also available on the stand to promote the Evim system, which replaces traditional visitor log books and provides live identification verification with the added plus of being compliant with the new PoPI Act.

Wynberger says the event was well attended and had a good mixture of attendees, with extensive interaction from the audience. He adds that it was good to see the challenges that estate managers face and to see the advancements in the market.

He believes that the Pelco range is ideal for residential estates and will increase the company’s penetration into this market. The company is a value-added distributor and is very involved with end users on the bigger projects, assisting with pre sales design and commissioning and providing a back to back service on installations of this nature by getting buy-in from suppliers, installers and end users.
