Regular readers will have seen the Hi-Tech Security Solutions Biometric Buyers’ Guide in various issues over the past few years. This year, we decided to include it in the Access and Identity Management Handbook, where it actually belongs. And as you will see, it proved the right decision as the following contains the largest buyers’ guide we have ever run.

While biometric technology gets most of the attention these days, there are still millions of people using cards, PINs, tokens and so forth. We have therefore supplemented the Biometric Buyers’ Guide with what we have called the Access Buyers’ Guide to highlight the continued advances in non-biometric technology.
The buyers’ guides contain a range of devices and solutions, primarily fingerprint based, but also including facial and hand biometrics, as well as non-biometric solutions. The idea behind the guides is to give potential customers an overview of what is available and most suitable to their needs.
Naturally, in the space available we cannot go into intricate details on each product, but we have given the vendors the opportunity to display more than the basics. Specifically, we included two new categories of Applications and Integration to give readers an idea where the devices mentioned are most often used, as well as what integration opportunities and services are available.
