Cost-effective, constant surveillance

August 2017 Perimeter Security, Alarms & Intruder Detection, Fire & Safety

The concept of securing large perimeters is becoming increasingly more expensive and only covers the said perimeter, however should an intrusion be detected it becomes evident that there is no 360-degree situational awareness and hence the ‘Spotter’ was developed to ensure large areas are under constant surveillance thus ensuring the lowest cost per square metre surveillance in the market today. This is achieved with a combination of thermal and day/night cameras that allow one to detect targets both day and night at extreme distances, then to track and apprehend accordingly.

We have integrated Panoptes MTI Software (Kestrel) which is a visual aid to allow operations to quickly detect movements within movement (panning of camera) so that targets can quickly be identified and responsive measures put in place.

With regards to fire detection or heat variances this can be achieved with the A 310 series FLIR thermal cameras with preset temperature thresholds that will alarm on these thresholds being breached. However, this needs to be metered in terms of distances. A variety of other type cameras can be used on the stockpiles or using a PT (Pan Tilt) based units that could possibly cover a number of multiple areas enhancing on both security and safety as a combined solution to these areas.

Beyond their 24/7 perimeter intrusion and threat detection capabilities, the cameras are field proven for:

• Fire detection.

• Overheating equipment detection.

• Remote visual inspection.

• Alarm verification.

By merging thermal imaging cameras with thermal video analytics and non-contact temperature measurement, the A310 Fixed and Pan/Tilt camera systems create a multi-role solution for perimeter intrusion detection and facility safety monitoring. With FLIR analytics you can use your security cameras to measure object temperatures and generate alarms when thresholds are exceeded, even at remotely monitored facilities.

A310F and PT cameras give you:

• Security with thermal imaging and analytics.

• Equipment monitoring to anticipate unscheduled failures.

• Wide-area surveillance for fire detection and monitoring of critical materials.

• Alarms based on actual object temperatures exceeding pre-set thresholds.

Strategically positioned cameras send alarms when a concentrated area shows a temperature increase. This is a proven application for monitoring hazardous chemical storage facilities, bulk coal piles, and critical vessels for life-threatening failures and fires.
