IP Cameras – who is watching?

April 2016 Conferences & Events

You may use your CCTV system for security, but how secure is the system itself? Among the many stories about hacks and data compromises around the world, there are also a few where criminals gained access to networks and sensitive information via surveillance cameras.

At iLegal 2016, Manuel Corregedor, operations manager at Wolfpack Information Risk will discuss today’s IP cameras, highlighting some of the useful features in comparison to their security, and look at who is to blame for this lapse. He will also discuss what the impact to organisations is (how hacking an IP camera can lead to compromising the rest of the organisation) and what the impact is on people (how do vulnerabilities in IP cameras affect the average person).

More than simply issuing a warning, Manuel will also include a live demonstration to highlight the risks and impact of unprotected IP cameras and discuss solutions to this mostly ignored risk.

Manuel has been involved in a number of security-related research and advisory projects targeting organisations, industry sectors and various countries. He is a trainer for a number of courses at the Wolfpack Cyber Academy. He has also overseen and worked on a number of IT/cyber security related projects for large financial/government institutions and multinational organisations.
