Robust weatherproof surveillance

September 2014 Surveillance

South Africans are no strangers to harsh weather conditions, with rough winds, hail downpours and thunderstorms that stun. With the new next-generation 1080p full HD speed dome network camera SD8364E from Vivotek, worries about the survival of your surveillance equipment and image quality in harsh weather conditions will be a thing of the past.

The upgraded SD8364E includes several new features that will ensure surveillance continues in the most relentless weather conditions. “Vivotek has developed the SD8364E, a more robust option to its predecessor with the security of your business and its assets in mind. The new speed dome network camera is designed with 360° continuous pan and 220° extended tilt range, which effectively alleviates dead space above the horizon,” says Gert Byleveldt, business practice lead at Westcon Security Solutions.

In addition to this the upgraded 30x optical zoom lens enables the SD8364E to capture images in more precise detail and at a higher image quality. This renders the SD8364E especially ideal for monitoring large, open-plan indoor and outdoor spaces, where high-level reliability and precision under challenging surveillance conditions are almost always a must-have.

More uniquely, the new defog feature enables the SD8364E to capture clear images under foggy conditions, exponentially enhancing operational performance. The incorporated EIS technology further enables the SD8364E to mitigate the effect of camera vibration due to wind, providing clear images at all times.

Featuring WDR Pro technology, the SD8364E is capable of coping with challenging lighting conditions and generating image quality close to the capabilities of the human eye. The camera is protected with IP66 – and NEMA 4X-rated housing, which means that by choosing this camera, enterprises will have continuous surveillance, in even the most extreme or hazardous weather conditions.

“The newly added features of the SD8364E come together to guarantee the retrieval of high-quality images in the harshest outdoor environments, which when it comes down to it, are the areas that need it most. The most high-profile adoption of the equipment so far has been that of the Brazilian military defence facilities for security at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, which demonstrates the quality and robustness of Vivotek speed dome cameras,” ends Byleveldt.
