Noah Mashaba has been involved in the electronic security industry for the past six years, of which three were spent working as a technical engineer at wireless IP convergence company Miro. After leaving Miro, Mashaba spent a short while working for a third party, then saw a gap in the market for a reliable installation company.

Employing a technician, two trainee technicians and an administrator, IP Solutions is fast gaining ground as a provider of reliable networking installations for home and business customers using the latest in IP technology.

IP Solutions provides the full range of services, from installation, maintenance and repair of hardwired networks (cabling and racking), indoor wireless networks, outdoor long range wireless links (point-to-point and point-to-multipoint), network surveillance cameras, voice-over-IP (VoIP) phone systems, fibre installation and splicing and SIAE microwave link installation and alignment.

While IP Solutions can provide a turnkey indoor wireless service, its area of specialisation is outdoor wireless solutions. Mashaba explains that his installation engineers are trained and certified to install solutions based on MikroTik, Ubiquiti, RADWIN, SIAE, Vivotek and Digium. No job is too small or large for the company and installations have been undertaken in private residences, housing estates, golf courses and large companies. Point-to-point and point-to-multipoint solutions are available, offering high throughput over long distances.

This 51% black-owned enterprise, with a Level 3 BBBEE certification, can provide a video surveillance system that can be accessed from anywhere on a network, wired or wireless, through the Internet or on a smart mobile device such as a cellphone or tablet. Mashaba points out that there are many options available and systems can be designed from single-camera deployment at a house, to systems with hundreds of cameras in housing estates. “We believe in customising solutions to meet specific customer requirements and the cameras can be interconnected through wireless IP links to increase speed and reduce costs on deployment.”

He explains that the company provides advice on the choice of cameras needed from simple static cameras, through remote-controlled speed domes, 360° fish-eye, day/night and even thermal options. The key here is a range of products and services centred around IP convergence. This would include video surveillance systems and telephone systems that connect to a computer network and the Internet. Mashaba believes that IP solutions provide many benefits over the traditional analogue systems, such as the ability to view surveillance cameras remotely or make cheaper telephone calls over the Internet.

However, the company is cognisant of the fact that some clients simply prefer or even need hardwired networks so they offer consultation and installation services for this option.

In addition to its service capabilities, the company is also a registered reseller for Miro and Esquire PC products. Mashaba says that the company aligns itself with recognised and reputed product lines to ensure that its levels of quality remain consistently high.

He adds that expansion is definitely on the cards for the company, both from a personnel and footprint perspective. The company has set its sights on sub-Saharan Africa and is prepared to follow its client base to ensure maximised productivity and uptime.
