New iPulse IPB1 fingerprint reader

October 2011 Access Control & Identity Management

New biometric reader from local manufacturer iPulse.

Building on the solid foundation of the iPB6 series, the iPB1 from South Africa’s iPulse enters the playing field on familiar ground – but on its own terms. Designed to be the perfect balance between cost-per-door and reliable, secure biometric authentication, the iPB1 showcases the power and intelligence of its older brother combined with modular design, a dash of style and the ability to control both sides of an entry point.

Dual 500 DPI fingerprint sensors connect via USB to a central ceiling-mounted controller which contains a single-box solution for all connections, including the relays. At the core of the controller beats the heart of an iPB6, featuring a 32-bit microprocessor combined with the flexibility offered by a custom-designed Linux operating system. On-board audible and visual notification replaces a screen on each module, allowing for a minimal, compact footprint and natural, ergonomic design.

From a cost-per-door perspective, the iPB1 is functionally the same as two separate biometric devices, with additional benefits: the modular design makes installation and cabling much simpler, offering uncompromising security that is friendlier towards your budget. The units can either be used as an IN and OUT pairing on a single door, or as IN readers on two collocated doors with exit buttons for OUT.

Last but not least, the iPB1 has done away with square, featureless casings that clash with everything else in the office. Not content with simply being sleek and small, the coloured interchangeable trim will let it blend in seamlessly with the overall atmosphere of your office.

And there is more

Other features include:

* Fully-functional standalone unit.

* Dual USB-connected 500 DPI sensors.

* Up to 10 000 stored fingerprints.

* Unmatched intelligence and flexibility via the iPB6 controller.
