Salto supports SiPass

Offline access control readers now integrate with Siemens’ security management system.

Salto Systems announces that its Salto offline access control readers now integrate with Siemens’ SiPass integrated security management system.

The combined Salto-Siemens solution offers customers the best of both worlds – the opportunity to control access to doors using Salto’s range of offline solutions – together with Siemens’ online access control system SiPass integrated – all with the same card. All the cardholder data for both systems is stored in the SiPass integrated database and all events at all doors appear in the SiPass integrated event log.

Salto is a leader in offline access control solutions, enabling users to integrate their physical security needs through networked standalone locks. A Salto offline system can manage an unlimited number of users and doors in a single system, securely controlling who has access to what, where and when at all times.

SiPass integrated is a powerful and flexible access control system that is designed to meet access control needs that range in complexity from medium to very high. It offers a wide range of advanced features including advanced card management, multimedia alarm handling, elevator management, a video surveillance user interface and complete event logging in a single system. At many sites, SiPass integrated is used as a security management station (SMS) that integrates access control, intrusion detection and video surveillance into a single system.

The modular structure and scalability of SiPass integrated make it easy to adjust to keep pace with the changing needs of any organisation. It supports a virtually unlimited number of cardholders and controllers to suit any facility size.

The partnership between Salto and Siemens to develop this integrated solution marks the beginning of a new era in security management. Users of the integrated system will appreciate the fact that they can use the same card at all doors. Security managers can therefore remove key management problems from doors fitted with mechanical locks and keys.

Marc Handels, vice president Global Marketing for Salto Systems says, “This new alliance helps both companies cater to the growing demand for integrated security solutions. Combining Salto’s offline access control technology with Siemens’ SiPass integrated online access control system enables us to provide end users with a tailored solution.”

“We are very pleased to be partnered with Salto,” comments Peter Grace, product manager for SiPass integrated at Siemens. “With Salto’s help we have created a convenient, secure and cost-efficient solution for our customers’ interior doors. We expect this integration will be particularly attractive to institutions such as hospitals, universities, large corporations, and other organisations with large numbers of doors. They no longer have to choose between the cost-efficiency and convenience offered by Salto and the advantages offered by an advanced online access control system like SiPass integrated. Now, they can truly have it all.”
