Technical surveillance countermeasures

September 2009 Security Services & Risk Management

Eavesdropping Detection Solutions, based in Centurion, has recently been appointed as the new southern African representatives of the US-based eavesdropping detection equipment manufacturer, REI.

Research Electronics International (REI) specialises in the design and manufacture of countersurveillance equipment, including the OSCOR Omni Spectral Correlator and the ORION NLJD. REI’s equipment has become the industry standard for corporate and government sweep teams.

Available for the first time in South Africa is the new OSCOR Blue RF Spectrum Analyser and the TALAN Telephone and Line Analyser.

The Talan Telephone and Line Analyser provides a complete integrated suite of tools to analyse, inspect, and test digital telephone lines (and other wiring) for taps and other eavesdropping devices.

The TALAN incorporates several types of telephone line tests including common tests such as voltage, current, resistance, and capacitance tests, as well as new technology. The ability to perform several different tests allows the user to compare the results of multiple tests on multiple phone lines, quickly identifying any potentially threatening anomalies.

The OSCOR Blue TSCM Spectrum Analyser sweeps 24 GHz in just one second to detect transmitting electronic surveillance devices. The OSCOR Blue is available in two models, the OSCOR Blue 24 GHz version, sweeping the radio frequency (RF) spectrum up to 24 GHz and an OSCOR 8 GHz version. The 24 GHz version is recommended for government and corporate surveys.

The OSCOR Blue’s unique integrated auto switching antenna system requires no extra antennas or cables. At 3,6 kg, the OSCOR Blue is portable and convenient to operate. The 21,3 cm high resolution touch screen display puts drag and move controls at your fingertips.
